Export to KT from 3ds Max - Why?

Hello everybody

I am now a happy user (still learning at a fast pace) of SU & KT (through SU2KT).

I am curious to know why anybody would like to export to KT from
3ds Max - when scenes can be rendered in Max itself? Is there any
advantage over Max in rendering the Max model in KT?

i have the same question myself! :lol:

but note that 3dsMax internal renderer, is a scanline renderer which
although it has great AA, it 's still behind unbiased rendering when
it comes to realism & quality.

There is a reason for that...in max, you have something like 5 pages of things to set, material editing is too much complex.
Some people are using 3ds max as a modeller, but just don't want to waste time on render. :?
These people are recommended to use Kerkythea, which is very easy to use, and also powerful. :D :D :D

Very impressive

But look at the render time. 2 days !!. Unfortunately the time taken
for V-Ray is not mentioned - for a realistic comparison.

But the rendering is really impressive, though.

This scene was rendered with an old version of KT ..... today and especially with the forthcoming KT2007 , this image can be rendered in some hours ( maybe 1 or 2 hours :wink: )

If you can export your model from AutoCAD as obj or 3ds , then you can import it directly to KT . If not , you will have to use a program that can translate AutoCAD files to obj or 3ds files ( there are many converter available at the Internet that can do that ( use Google to find them :wink: )

Hi

there is a further reason, it appears [I only installed today] that GMax 1.2 [downloadable from TurboSquid] which is the free version of 3DS Max, does not have the built in renderer [it was removed along with a host of other non-game construction tools].
