It's working nicely! Although lights are not exported, (and had some problems with materials)it's a helluva start!

Whoo unbeliveable...finally someone interested in MAX2K !! :shock: :shock: :shock:
lol..... :)

New version will be out soon...007....

added :

-- lights omni, spotlight
-- background color of MAX
-- textures for diffuse, specular and bump
-- Fixed problems with not all materials with same name where replaced
-- better handling of smoothinggroups
-- Animation through K-script

It works well, but until textures could be exported...
It would be great if it had a "group by material" feature.


This is anexample of imported from 3DSmax scene. Obviously, materiald added later in K:
No postproduction.

The new thin glass shader is wonderful. I used this scene to try Max2K, HDRI (wow) and thin glass shader.

since it's not a plugin but a max script it will run on all of the latest versions 5-8 (unless something very drastic changes in their script language, hehehe).

@U3dreal: it's great news to know a new version is on its way! of course I'd be interested in beta testing for you! :D

And believe it or not, your script is a great add-on for 3dsmax!!! and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fans soon, hehehe.

I love the possibilities the blender script has got since it offers a great renderer to this great free program, but 3dsmax is my everyday tool for work so your script opens great posibilities as well as to many ppl who may not be able to get a plugin like MentalRay, Vray, Brazil or FinalRender!!!

But I'm also becoming very very very fond of blender!!!

Would your exporter work with gMax?
As a freelancer (my architectural bureau consisits in me and my computer), I don't have (and never had) enough money to purchase my own copy of 3DSMax, but, from time to time, I do use gMax for some modelling.

Hey Dan, that's a great suggestion! Have you tried it? Since Gmax lacks of a renderer this would be a great solution. There's Yagmax which exports Gmax scenes to yafray's XML so I don't see why the K script may not run in Gmax.

You should try it out! I'm looking in my backup cds for my Gmax copy! :wink:

Darn, it didn't work! the script loads ok but when exporting you get the following error:

I haven't gMax instaled yet, but since you tryed it out already I'll give up.

I think, though, that it shouldn't be verry difficult for u3dreal to make his exporter run under gMax (just a thought, I know nothing about programming...), what do you think, Gregor?

well it would be possible to alter the script to work with gmax...

but as far as i know the data will only be printed into the maxscript
listener...so you would have to copy/paste it into a text file...

So if this is an option for you let me know......;)
