Help with materials

Hi all, I am trying to learn KT but as is my history with learning programs other than modelling it will be tedious for me. Anyway i am having trouble making a material from sketchup shiny. I made the material myself it is plywood ends so I do not think I will get it as a standard material anytime soon. Thing is if i use a standard shiny floor from the standard KT materials all is good so I thought, well change the properties in KT Mat Editor in the ply to match that of a shiny wood . Does not work just dull old ply ends.
Can someone guide me on how to edit wood to become shiny? I have attached a screenshot of my editor ](*,)

Thanks

Re: Help with materials

The material has only a diffuse map, no spec. So how it could be shiny? A basic simple start could be picking some KT's shiny plastic and then replace the diffuse color with the wood texture.
