If you look Ciccio's works very carefully you will notice that he uses enough details in right places and textures are incredible good. Also he is really good with post pro.

sorry for a bit off topic - but - hey, Rombout, try setting sun radius to 5 and re-render. the default sun radius by the sun&sky wizard sets the sun to have unnaturally soft shadows IMHO. After much deep exploration on this subject recently I can say that if you set it to radius of 2 = natural-looking bright direct sun, but you will also have to use PTP for your render method, but if you use PM+FG, be sure to set soft shadow quality to Fine or Ultra Fine.

also, I noticed with PM+FG a Production AA to .1 instead of .3 with lower res. images (less than 2400px wide) looks much crisper w/out much added render time (when using higher render settings).

This is the same render using preset 11 PM+Caustics+High+AA and as you can see it looses a lot of details and fails to evaluate reflections in many areas like on the TV and the wall. It is also a much darker render. To me it is a good ilustration between biased vs unbiased methods, but again is all down to speed and your particular needs. However the difference in quality is huge.

Sergio,

I would personally like to thank you very much. The info u'r providing in this topic ir very usefull. It's like sitting in a class.

I have a quadcore, does this litteraly render 2 times faster than a dualcore?

I know we are a bit off-topic here but still waiting to get some news from the KT team. I think Giannis would be the best person to answeer your question, but I remember reading somewhere in the forum that if you have a quad processor you get more detail for every pass (more computations for every pass), so theoretically you can achieve less noise in less time, however don'ttake my word for it. There are many factors influencing render speed like scene complexity, light sources, etc, but at the end the more powerful your machine the better it is as it is all down to your processor capabilities

a quad core and a dual core of the same core processor speed (i.e. 2.6 GHz, assuming actual processor speed is as listed) will complete passes in roughly the same amount of time. The clarity between the two will differ; the quad core should clear up a rendering much more quickly than the dual core. So don't look to number of passes specifically.
