Render SettingsTo Do: create a table describing the render presets - biased or not, raytracing mode, AA, GI, etc. The heart of the Kerkythea program is a rendering engine that can simulate a variety of cameras and biased or unbiased raytracing models. Render PresetsUnder the Start Render dialog (Camera and Settings), you can select a variety of render presets. Those presets are described below. For an explanation of the terms and acronyms used, see the glossary. Ray Tracing01. Ray Tracing - LowUses basic ray tracing without global illumination. 02. Ray Tracing - High + AA 0.3Uses higher-quality ray tracing without global illumination. Also uses anti-aliasing with a threshold of 0.3. PhotonMap (PM, PM+FG, or GI)Global Illumination - Calculates bounced light and colors 03. PhotonMap - Quick04. PhotonMap - Low05. PhotonMap - Medium06. PhotonMap - Medium + AA 0.307. PhotonMap - High + AA 0.308. PhotonMap - Fine + AA 0.3Photon Map+CausticsGlobal Illumination - Calculates bounced light and colors + focused light from glass or reflections 09. PhotonMap+Caustics - Medium10. PhotonMap+Caustics - Medium + AA 0.311. PhotonMap+Caustics - High + AA 0.312. PhotonMap+Caustics - Fine + AA 0.3Path Tracing (PT)Unbiased method, tends to be optimal for exteriors or landscapes 13. Path Tracing - Quick14. Path Tracing - Low15. Path Tracing - Medium16. Path Tracing - High + AA 0.317. Path Tracing - ProgressiveBidirectional Path Tracing (BiPT)Unbiased method, tends to be optimal for interiors with soft area lighting 18. Bidirectional Path TracingMetropolis Light TransportUnbiased method, tends to be optimal for interiors with difficult indirect lighting and caustics 19. Metropolis Light Transport (MLT)Clay RenderReplaces all materials (except glass and emitters) with a flat white material. Typically used for quick lighting tests before applying materials. This method, depending on the situation, can also be used for presentations. (additional variety of high quality Clay Render presets are available for download here) 21. Clay Render (PhotonMap - Quick)22. Clay Render (PhotonMap - Medium)Mask Render (Alpha Mask)Renders a black and white image for a selected object in the scene representing the spatial relationship of the selected object to its field. This is commonly used in conjunction with a photo editing program in order to ‘mask’ an object using the mask render in the ‘Alpha’ channel. 25.
