Copy-Paste materials from one surface to another

I design and render wood furniture. Having formerly used Keyshot I find KT better in its scene flexibility. However there is one ability I cannot find in KT: Copying a material from a surface and then pasting it to another surface. Most surfaces within the model are the same or very similar material but about half the time must be manually re-oriented so the grain runs the proper direction. Or some surfaces simply need editing with the same material but changing or scaling the bitmap texture so they don't all look identical.
Either way it is quickest to move around the model copying and pasting materials onto the appropriate surfaces and then coming back and editing only the surfaces that require it.
